The Empty Spaces Theatre Company, one of Central Florida 's newest professional companies, is proud to announce its upcoming production of Oedipus the King Universally recognized as the dramatic masterpiece of Greek Theatre, Oedipus the King (one of only 7 extant plays by Sophocles) greatly influenced Aristotle in his theatrical treatise Poetics - and is cited in that work as the most brilliant example of theatrical plot and a model for all tragedies to follow. Oedipus the King has proven the test of time, remaining vital, visceral, and compelling over 2,000 years after its premier. Along with direction by DiDonna and additional direction by Kubersky, this highly collaborative production includes Movement Choreography and an Original Percussion/Music/Sound environment and score from Anna DeMers and Kevin Becker of The Terpsichore Collective, Asian puppetry designed and in consultation with Les Caulfield, costumes by Shelly Henriot and technical direction by Christopher Drew.
